Aberystwyth University Society Change Ringers

We’re the Llanbadarn Fawr ringers (formally Aberystwyth University Society Change Ringers – AUSCR). Having been formed way back in 1961, we’ve got a rich history of 50 years of ringing, socialising and generally having fun! AUSCR has now folded as a Students’ Union-based society but students are always welcome in the tower.

If you’re considering coming to Aberystwyth to study, welcome! One of the great things about coming to university is the chance you get to try out something new. Bell-ringing is probably something you’ve never considered trying but we hope you’ll come along and see what’s involved.

We ring the bells at St Padarn’s Church in Llanbadarn Fawr. It has ten bells plus a sharp seventh, having been augmented from eight back in 2001, and it’s the only church with ring-able bells for almost 20 miles.

We practice every Wednesday evening 19:30-21:00, after which we all scurry off to the pub, which is conveniently located right next to the church! On Sunday, we ring 9:15-10:00, which is usually followed by breakfast and a chat.

Anyone at the university is more than welcome to join us, whether you’ve rung before or just want the opportunity to try something new.
