Keele University

There is an active band of ringers at St John’s Church, Keele, including both students and members of the local community. In addition to their participation in regular Sunday and practice (Wednesday) ringing, the band are active members of the North Staffordshire Association of Change Ringers.

Keele bells are very suitable for teaching, and the Keele Ringing Centre has received recognition from the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers.

Training events held at Keele include a regular learners’ practice every Tuesday evening, North Staffordshire Association training days several times a year, and individual tuition for learners and more experienced ringers.

There is also a regular ringing group based at Woodlands, where Phil and Ro Gay have installed a small ring of bells. On most Wednesday mornings, six or eight ringers, most of whom have been ringing together since they were teenagers, meet to attempt a peal.

If you would like further information about ringing at Keele, please contact the tower captain, Phil Gay: 01782 750038.
